Welcome to Gerald Ford Elementary School!
On behalf of everyone in our Falcon community, I'd like to welcome you to another exciting year as we learn and grow together. My name is Mr. Preston, and I am proud to serve as your principal for my 9th year here at Gerald Ford Elementary — and my 20th year in education overall. My journey includes nine years as a teacher, two years as an assistant principal, and these past nine years leading our incredible school.
We are especially proud to share that Gerald Ford Elementary has been named a 2025 California Distinguished School — one of only six in all of Riverside County, and the only school selected in the Coachella Valley. This honor reflects the dedication, talent, and teamwork of our educators, staff, students, and families.
Gerald Ford Elementary is an incredibly dynamic school with a strong sense of community and a powerful drive toward excellence. Parent involvement plays such a significant role in a student's success, and I encourage you to be an active partner in your child’s education. There will be many opportunities for our staff to connect with families throughout the year — and we look forward to working together to help your child achieve their personal best!
As principal, I work alongside our students, staff, and families to review, develop, and innovate our school’s educational programs. Our educators consistently raise the rigor and relevance for our students, foster an academically challenging learning environment, and guide all students toward achievement.
A little bit about me personally — I have three energetic daughters, Molly (14), Macy (12), and Mabel (10), our sweet dog Teddy, and my wonderful wife Kelly, who is an oncology nurse at Eisenhower Health. My family shares my excitement for another great year at Gerald Ford Elementary and all the opportunities ahead.
I am looking forward to another year of learning, growth, and Falcon Awesome moments. Here’s to a fantastic school year!
